Interested in writing the Etudes?

Are you interested in contributing to the TMEA All-State Jazz Audition process? Each year, the Texas Jazz Educators Association (TJEA) invites composers and educators to submit original audition etudes for consideration.

The annual call for submissions is announced each January, with completed etudes due to Alex Parker by March. Each submitted etude should be based on the chord changes of a jazz standard and demonstrate strong pedagogical and musical value for the All-State audition process.

Accepted styles include, but are not limited to:

Selected etudes may be used as part of future TMEA All-State Jazz Audition materials. We encourage writers from across the jazz education community to share their creativity and contribute to this important educational resource.

Watch for the annual call for submissions each January for detailed guidelines and submission requirements and if you have questions reach out to Alex Parker at Alex_Parker@baylor.edu.
